INFORMATION FOR TEACHERS

TAKE PART IN AN UNFORGETTABLE LEARNING EXPERIENCE, CENTRED IN SUSTAINABILITY.

The BBC Earth Experience offers a unique adventure which you cannot find anywhere else. Unrivalled in scale and spectacle, this is a world of endless discovery, wonder and learning. Go round the world in one hour, explore the seven continents, see creepy crawlies up close and dive into our interactive Water World.

The experience immerses visitors into the natural world where they will meet the wonderful and extraordinary animal inhabitants of our seven continents, with narration by David Attenborough. Our accompanying education packs are designed to inspire children and develop their understanding, empathy and desire to protect the planet. This is an experience which can be enjoyed by all, no matter the year level.

Name

The experience is self-guided with curriculum-based education packs which you can complete either on site or back in your own classroom. The resources are curriculum linked and include Teacher Guides for each pack.

School groups should allow approximately 90 minutes for their visit to BBC Earth Experience. A member of our Visitor Experience team will meet you to assist upon entry to your self-led excursion.

Sustainability Education Workshops

BBC Earth Experience offers fun, engaging education workshops, on-site to complement your school booking. Our BBC Earth Education Hub will inspire and motivate students to take action and leave them feeling empowered as environmental champions.

Key messages of the workshops include:

The sessions are tailored to different year levels (Grade P-2, Grade 3-4, Grade 5-6, Grade 7-9 and Grade 10-12) and include discussions, visible learning, game-based learning, communication, collaboration, critical and creative thinking. At the end of the session, students will have the opportunity to develop a public service announcement or pledge to the earth, to inspire action for our planet.

Pricing: Workshops are an add-on to BBC Earth Experience school bookings and are $10* per student with a 25-student minimum. There is no cost involved for teachers to attend the workshops. We can accommodate up to 50 students in the workshops at a time. If you have a larger group we recommend splitting it in two and alternating the workshop and self-guided experience.

Duration: 60 minutes per workshop. Please allow for up to 75 minutes to include arrival and departure.

Session Times: Weekdays during the school term at 10am, 11am, 1pm and 2pm.
