Transport


Train

Our closest station is Southern Cross. Once you exit the station, you can catch the 96, 109 or 12 tram routes and arrive at MCEC in just a few stops. For further journey planning, please visit Public Transport Victoria’s Journey Planner.


Tram

Tram routes 96, 109 and 12 (Stop 124A Casino/MCEC) will all take you to our Clarendon Street entrance. Otherwise, tram routes 70, 75 and the City Circle (Stop D5) take you to Flinders Street. From there, it’s just a short walk-up Clarendon Street until you reach us. For further journey planning, please visit Public Transport Victoria’s Journey Planner.


Bus

From Monday to Friday, bus route 237 goes via Southern Cross Station to Lorimer Street, which is roughly a five-minute walk to MCEC. For bus timetables or further trip planning, use Public Transport Victoria’s Journey Planner.


Taxi

If you are being dropped off at the venue in a taxi, specify the address 1 Convention Centre Pl, South Wharf VIC 3006 instead of the name of the venue. This will help them drop you to the closest door to the venue. We have two nearby taxi ranks – Crown, Clarendon Street and DFO, Convention Centre Place.


Parking

If you’re driving in, there is an abundance of convenient secure car parking available around MCEC. Nearby options include the South Wharf Retail, Siddeley St, Freeway and Montague Street car parks.

Prefer to park onsite? Wilson Parking operates a secure underground car park at MCEC that offers a range of flexible rates. Book online before you visit to ensure you’re guaranteed a great spot.


Facilities


Safety and Security

As part our security measures to keep everyone safe we may ask to search your bag on entry to the experience. Please ensure all bags are able to be opened and checked e.g. no cellophane wrapping.


Bicycle Racks

There are bike hoops located on South Wharf Promenade at the Clarendon St entrance and along Convention Centre Place outside Wilson Parking South Wharf.

Buggies

Buggies are not allowed inside the experience but can be stored at the MCEC Customer Service desk located close to the BBC Earth Experience entrance at Convention Centre Place. Please ask an usher to direct you to the desk if you are unable to find it. Please be prepared to fold it and ensure that you keep any valuables with you at all times. Please note all items left at the Customer Service desk are left at the owner’s risk.


Toilets

There are toilets to the left of the BBC Earth Experience Box Office and within the experience itself. This includes an accessible toilet.


Baby changing and Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding is welcome throughout the venue.

MCEC have several Parent Rooms available for use, offering a comfortable and private space for parents and children. Please ask an usher or the Customer Service desk to direct you to the closest
one.

Prayer Rooms

You can find prayer rooms located in Melbourne Convention Centre.


Shop

Remember your visit forever with a souvenir from our gift-shop which will be selling exclusive merchandise only available at the experience.


Food and Drink

A selection of snacks and drinks will be available to purchase in the BBC Earth Experience café upon exiting the main experience. There is also a selection of cafes and restaurants within the wider venue. No food and drink are allowed within the main experience. There is a drinking water station available at the venue to refill water bottles.

Personal assistance tickets are available at no extra cost and will be available to book with your main tickets through Ticketmaster shortly. Verification for personal assistance tickets may be requested once you arrive for your session. For more information on the booking process, full details are available on this link


GETTING TO US 

By car

Multiple car parks are near MCEC, with the closest one being the Melbourne Exhibition Centre Car Park operated by Wilson Parking. This car park also has accessible bays for Australian Disability Parking (ADP) Permit holders.

If you're arriving by taxi, use the address ‘1 Convention Centre Pl, South Wharf VIC 3006’ to get dropped off at the entrance closest to the venue.

By Public TraNsport

The closest level access tram stop is Stop 124A Casino/MCEC which stops directly outside MCEC’s Clarendon Street entrance. Routes 96 and 109 travel through this stop and are serviced by low-floor trams. The closest train station is Southern Cross. Stairs, escalators and accessible lifts service platforms 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14.


ON ARRIVAL

The venue offers step-free, ramped access. The Box Office, experience area, gift shop, and café are all on the ground level with step-free access. A lift is available to reach upper levels within the experience. The event is a free-roaming, walking experience, and you can expect to spend around one hour exploring. Note that seating inside the venue is limited. If you need a seat, please speak to one of our ushers for assistance.


FACILITIES


We welcome wheelchair and mobility scooter users at the experience. We have lifts available for those who would like to use them but they are not suitable for mobility scooters


Audio enhancement system is currently unavailable within the experience.


Assistance dogs are welcome at the BBC Earth Experience.

TWILIGHT SESSIONS

Every Thursday evening from Thursday 1 February 2024 the 6:30pm and 7pm sessions will be ‘ Twilight Sessions’ where only adult and concession tickets will be available for purchase, no child and family tickets will be available for these sessions.

RELAXED SESSIONS

We run relaxed sessions once a month and these sessions will be available to purchase in the coming weeks. Please check this page for updates on dates and times.  

During these sessions, we take a more relaxed view of Front of House etiquette and visitors are welcome to come and go as they please.

Relaxed sessions will have:

  • Heightened lighting
  • Lowered sound levels 
  • Ear defenders available
  • Additional friendly members of staff to answer your questions.

PRAM SESSIONS

Pram sessions are available every second Friday of the month from 10:00am. Capacities are reduced for these sessions to allow for the extra space and a ‘Adult and Pram’ ticket will need to be purchased if a pram will be brought in.

SENIOR MORNINGS

Every second Friday from Friday 9 February 2024 the 10am and 10:30am sessions will be allocated for seniors and only Adult and Concession tickets will be available for purchase, no child or family tickets will be available.
